Summary

The Project Manager- Drywall shall have primary responsibility for leading and managing all facets of production (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, etc.) to a successful outcome on all assigned projects . The Project Manager - Drywall must be a good communicator, must have a sound understanding of the workflow and must possess a strong technical comprehension of the work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, understand, and proactively manage the terms, conditions and requirements of the Contract/Subcontract Agreement(s) and the associated Contract Documents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Pillar and the client, between Pillar and subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and consultants, and between the Pillar Project Team and other internal clients.
  • Ensure that all labor, materials, equipment and services are properly and completely procured in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all submittals, shop drawings, samples, etc. are properly reviewed, coordinated, and provided to the client within the time frames included in the Contract/Subcontract.
  • Through a tracking process and through consistent and regular communication with suppliers and vendors, ensure that all materials and equipment are properly fabricated and delivered in accordance with the requirements and time frames included in the Contract/Subcontract.
  • Establish, maintain, and report upon the Project budget. Prepare and monthly forecasts and Cost to Complete reports.
  • Proactively pursue opportunities to augment Project profitability, and proactively address potential impacts to Project profitability.
  • Represent Pillar at all external Project meetings
  • Lead and manage regularly scheduled Project Team meetings
  • Ensure that all notices to the client, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers and consultants are provided timely and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Contract/Subcontract and the Contract Documents.
  • Ensure that all Change Order documentation and proposals are provided timely and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Contract/Subcontract and the Contract Documents.
  • Ensure that the Schedule of Values submission, as well as the monthly applications for payment are submitted and proactively managed such that the Project is not in an underbilled condition.
  • Proactively manage the receipt of all progress payments.
  • Proactively pursue the resolution of change orders such that Project can receive payment when the change order work is being performed.
  • Lead and promote Pillar’s culture of safety.
  • Lead and manage Pillar’s quality control program.
  • Mentor and thus ensure the career development of all direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers and consultants.
  • Assist Pillar’s business development and team member recruitment efforts through the aforementioned relationships.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of drywall project management experience
  • Proficient in the utilization of construction estimating software; On Screen Takeoff/QB experience is a plus
  • Proficient in reading and comprehension of plans, specifications, and all other relevant forms of Contract Documents.
  • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in the utilization of Project Management Software such as ProCore and Autodesk Build.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle that can be used to travel from the Pillar office to assigned project sites.
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments effectively.
  • Interface effectively, ethically and professionally with the client, with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and consultants, and with the Pillar Project Team and other internal clients.
  • Strong [English] oral and written communications skills.

Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for planning and coordinating a safe, profitable and efficient operation on all assigned projects. The superintendent is responsible for supervising projects and managing crews efficiently within budget and schedule conducting all work in accordance with Pillar policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Takes a general inspection of the work, checks performances and safety measures.
  • Follow project development processes to ensure that the project will complete on time.
  • Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects.
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project.
  • Perform inspections to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location.
  • Plans and organizes work to maximize crew productivity, maximizes equipment utilization levels by ensuring availability and operator effectiveness. Coordinates with project manager on the project needs for equipment and labor.
  • Promotes and enforces corporate safety program with field personnel and subcontractors and reviews safety plans for scheduled work. Communicates safety expectations field, including documentation, safety violations, accidents and preventative measures.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel to specific responsibilities.
  • Coordinates with operations on the project needs for equipment and labor.
  • Supervises, maintains communication and encourages, promotes teamwork, motivation, and development of foreman.
  • Assists Foreman in the management process of crews.
  • Drive cost-effective project management techniques and strategies in the field.
  • Responsible to ensure that construction projects are performed in accordance with company procedures, as well as safety, environmental and other regulatory guidelines and mandates.
  • Provides leadership, training and guidance.
  • Resolve problems when they arise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial construction and 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Able to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Possess basic MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (experience may be substituted for education).
  • Reliable Transportation – go to sites in Metro DC as assigned/needed (including Maryland and Virginia).

Summary

The Assistant Safety Manager position ensures a safe and compliant work environment on our construction job sites. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of construction safety standards, the ability to communicate effectively, drive to promote a culture of safety across all departments and be the site Assistant Safety Manager between Pillar the GC and other trades as needed.

The Assistant Safety Manager will be assigned to a specific job site and will work closely with project teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards, deliver training, conduct safety audits, complete all required project safety documentation and ensure that safety protocols and regulations are followed on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of construction industry safety standards and practices. Ability to research and stay informed about regulations as needed.
  • Previous experience in construction safety, risk management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Able to read and understand plans and specifications. Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate safety concerns and solutions clearly. Report-writing and presentation abilities.
  • Possess basic MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

Summary

The VDC/BIM Engineer is responsible for implementing BIM technology to assist in the construction coordination process. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment, providing exceptional quality and service for a wide range of commercial projects. The role involves creating and managing 3D models, conducting laser scanning operations, and collaborating with project teams to ensure effective implementation of VDC/BIM workflows.

This position will be in our Alexandria, VA Headquarters office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and review 3D, 4D, and 5D models using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM software.
  • Conduct on-site 3D laser scanning operations using Faro, Leica, and other scanners.
  • Process, register, and integrate scan data into design models.
  • Perform clash detection and resolve conflicts in BIM coordination meetings.
  • Develop and conduct BIM kickoff meetings with project teams.
  • Implement and operate robotic layout systems on job sites.
  • Utilize MWF Pro for panelization and prefabrication planning.
  • Perform early design reviews and constructability analysis.
  • Manage and update BIM project documents specific to project needs.
  • Investigate new software and technologies to improve efficiency and delivery.
  • Troubleshoot software, processes, and technical issues.
  • Complete project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Take leadership for select project tasks and/or components.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic layout systems and their applications.
  • Familiarity with prefabrication processes and MWF Pro software.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to work in an office environment and on construction sites.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 25% of the time).

Summary

Carpenters work with a variety of tools and measuring devices to complete a wide span of work tasks. They work with light-gauge and load-bearing steel framing for interior partitions, exterior framing, and curtain wall construction. They are also responsible for installing drywall, sheathing, acoustical ceiling tile systems, wood blocking, doors, frames, hardware and assembling various finishes components on a construction project.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
  • Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers.
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Clean and clear debris, extra materials, and dirt/dust from jobsites.

Summary

A drywall finisher is responsible for applying drywall compound to the seams between drywall panels and to nail and screw indentations on the surface of the panels. The finisher will work on new walls and ceilings, and may repair existing walls as well. They may prepare high walls and ceilings that require the use of ladders, scaffolding, or stilts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each project or job site.
  • Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks.
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing are worn.
  • Spread sealing compound between boards or panels or over cracks, holes, nail heads, or screw heads, using trowels, broad knives, or spatulas.
  • Sand or patch nicks or cracks in plasterboard or wallboard.
  • Mix sealing compounds by hand or with portable electric mixers.
  • Work on high ceilings using scaffolding or other tools, such as stilts.
  • Install molding at wall corners to secure wallboard.
  • Apply texturizing compounds or primers to walls or ceilings before final finishing, using trowels, brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
  • Sand rough spots of dried cement between applications of compounds.
  • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers.
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Clean and clear debris, extra materials, and dirt/dust from jobsites.
